Driveway Pavers Cost Calculator

Estimate driveway paver cost from the area you plan to pave and your quoted price per square foot or square meter. Add optional labor and one-time expenses, or enter an installed rate that already includes labor. All prices are in US dollars.

Estimate your paver driveway budget

Use project-specific prices from your supplier or installer. This tool calculates a budget from your inputs; it does not supply local rates, design the driveway, or count individual pavers.

Optional one-time costs (USD)

Enter totals for the whole project, not rates per unit of area. Leave blank for zero. Add only items not included in your unit prices.

Your entries are calculated in this browser. This tool does not save or send them. Google Blogger may separately provide its own platform services and cookies.

How to estimate driveway paver cost

Estimated cost = area x materials price per area unit + area x labor price per area unit + one-time costs

For an installed quote, use area x installed unit price + extras excluded from the quote. Do not add labor again.

For measurement steps and quote examples, read our guide to estimating driveway paver cost.

Worked example

An illustrative driveway area of 600 square feet at $5 per square foot for materials and $8 per square foot for labor, plus $1,200 for base preparation, gives $3,000 + $4,800 + $1,200 = $9,000.

If instead your installed quote is $13 per square foot, with the same $1,200 preparation charge excluded, 600 x $13 + $1,200 also equals $9,000. These numbers illustrate the arithmetic; they are not current market rates.

Measure area, not driveway length alone

For a rectangle, area = length x width. A 30-foot by 20-foot driveway has 600 square feet. For a suitable irregular shape, divide it into non-overlapping rectangles and add their areas. Use our Square Footage Calculator to help. This budget tool does not correct overlaps or produce a site plan.

Review what is included in your rate

Paver product, layout, cuts, access, excavation, disposal, base materials, bedding, jointing, edge restraints, drainage, and labor can affect the price. Ask what your per-area rate covers before entering extras. Some quotes include preparation and removal; others list them separately.

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculate how many pavers to buy?

No. A bill of materials needs paver dimensions, joint spacing, layout, cuts, and waste assumptions. Multiplying area by a price estimates cost; it does not create an exact paver count.

Are these installed driveway prices?

Only if you enter an installed rate or add labor separately. This tool has no built-in local market rates. Request current project-specific quotes for your location.

Should I add base preparation separately?

Only if it is not already included in the materials or installed rate you use. If your quote gives an additional per-area preparation rate, calculate its total for the project before entering it as a one-time cost here.

Does the calculator include taxes, permits, or drainage?

Only if included in your unit prices or entered in Other costs. There is no automatic tax rate or design allowance. Check the project scope and applicable requirements.

Can I use square meters?

Yes. Choose square meters and use prices per square meter. Changing units clears area and unit prices to prevent mismatches; one-time costs remain unchanged.

What happens when I switch to installed pricing?

Unit price and labor clear. The separate labor field is disabled. Enter the installed rate and review retained extras for anything now included in that rate.

What inputs are supported?

Positive area up to 100,000 square feet or square meters, per-area rates from $0 to $1,000,000, and individual one-time totals up to $10,000,000. Enter up to two decimals using a decimal point or comma without thousands separators. Main price is required, even if zero; optional blanks count as zero.
