Kitchen Remodel Budget Calculator: Costs & Contingency

Plan your kitchen renovation budget from your own estimates or contractor quotes. Add materials, installation, and other project costs, then choose a contingency reserve.

Build your kitchen budget

All amounts are US dollars. Blank cost fields count as zero. Enter tax, delivery, and disposal in Other Project Costs if they are not already included elsewhere. Count each expense once.

15% is an editable starting assumption, not a recommendation for every renovation. Supported range: 0% to 50%.

Enable JavaScript to use this calculator. You can also add your project estimates manually and multiply their sum by 1 + your reserve percentage / 100.

What this calculator estimates

It adds the amounts you enter and a reserve on that subtotal. It does not estimate local prices, generate contractor quotes, or determine permit requirements. Include only the kitchen portion of shared costs. If a contractor quote already includes materials, do not add those materials again.

Worked example

Project estimates of $20,000 with a 15% reserve produce a $3,000 contingency and a $23,000 planned budget. Actual costs may differ.

How is the reserve calculated?

Reserve = project subtotal x reserve percentage / 100, rounded to the nearest cent. Planned budget = subtotal + reserve.

Can I use this to track invoices?

This free calculator plans one budget. It does not store entries or track payments. Save your estimates separately before leaving the page.
