Small Bathroom Remodel Cost & Materials Calculator
Plan a small bathroom remodel using your measured tile areas, product box coverage, and your own prices or quotes. Calculate whole boxes for floor and wall tile separately, then build a project budget.
Materials and project budget
This tool does not generate local contractor prices. All costs are in US dollars, including when you measure in meters.
How the calculator works
Net wall tile area is your selected gross wall tile area minus openings. Floor and wall quantities are each multiplied by their own waste allowance and rounded up to full boxes using the product's stated box coverage. The box cost is added unless you mark it as already included in another budget item.
Example budget, not a market price
A 40 sq ft floor with 10% waste needs 3 boxes covering 20 sq ft each. At $50 a box, that is $150. A selected wall tile area of 100 sq ft minus 10 sq ft of openings, with 10% waste, needs 10 boxes covering 10 sq ft each. At $30 a box, that is $300. Add $4,550 of other entered costs: the subtotal is $5,000. A 10% financial contingency adds $500, giving a $5,500 plan.
Does a small room have a standard cost per square foot?
Not in this calculator. Scope, location, access, fixtures, hidden damage, and contractor rates can all change the cost. Enter project-specific quotes rather than treating the example as a typical price.
What materials are not estimated automatically?
Adhesive, grout, waterproofing, backer board, fasteners, and ventilation specifications depend on your products and installation. Add their quoted costs under Other materials, and follow manufacturer instructions and applicable requirements. This tool does not validate a waterproofing system or design plumbing and electrical work.
